I came to Jeff and Heather due to my elevated cholesterol, which puzzled me since I am very healthy and live an active and balanced lifestyle. Jeff ordered an advanced blood test not available from my primary care provider, which illustrated that I have two genetic markers for high cholesterol. No matter how healthy I live, it will be elevated. Jeff also noticed a high level of inflammation in my body which, combined with elevated cholesterol, can lead to stroke. This was concerning but he had solutions. He suggested I do a “reset” diet for a month and then reintroduce foods into my diet to see what was causing the inflammation. I found myself getting support at Healthy Connections in a rather roundabout way. In other words, I thought of myself as pretty healthy, and not really in need of functional medicine. After just a couple weeks of being on a prescribed dietary cleanse from Heather Nielsen, and starting on specific supplements for my individual needs, the difference in my energy and sleep were rather dramatic. I am now a firm believer and advocate for functional medicine.
